Language Policy
The medium of instruction for all subjects is English, except for Chinese Language, Chinese Literature, Chinese History and Putonghua. The official languages to be used in formal school functions are English and Putonghua. All students readily communicate in English without sacrificing their competence in their mother tongue. Our ultimate goal is to train our students to become bi-literate and tri-lingual.

As a Catholic school, Sacred Heart Canossian College is committed to spiritual, moral and civic education. We promote multi-perspective thinking and reflective learning in all subjects and co-curricular activities, so that our students will develop a sense of responsibility to themselves, their communities, their countries and the world. We empower our youngsters to be critical thinkers, to be women of integrity with expanded horizons and global awareness.
Streaming Policy
Students in the Junior Secondary are streamed.
Admission for S1
Students are streamed according to their performance in the Pre-S1 Attainment tests/annual examination results.
They are divided into three batches according to their scores in English, Chinese and Mathematics in the Pre-S1 Attainment Test results. Students scoring highest in the 3 core subjects are allocated to Class F. Potential students who need more academic support are allocated to classes A & B so as to allow small group teaching to help them build solid foundation in these core subjects. The rest of the students are allocated randomly to classes C –E.
Streaming for S1 to S2 / S2 to S3
Students are ranked according to their marks scored in the annual examination results of Chinese, English and Mathematics and are divided into three batches. Students scoring highest in the 3 core subjects are allocated to Class F. Potential students who need more academic support are allocated to classes A & B so as to allow smaller class size teaching to help them build solid foundation in these core subjects. The rest of the students are allocated randomly to classes C-E.
Allocation to S4
Every student is required to study 4 core subjects and 3 elective subjects at S4. For the allocation of elective subjects, students are ranked according to their average marks in the annual examination result in S3. The total number of subject passed is also a parameter for allocation. The students who have fewer subjects failed have a higher priority under this system. They are then allocated into the respective subjects according to their rank and choices.
