Tender
Service Learning

“Those who love are never tired, since love knows no burden.”

St Magdalene of Canossa

Service learning has always been an important component of values education and life education at Sacred Heart Canossian College. Service programmes organised by different bodies provide opportunities for Sacred Heartists to share and learn through service and to reflect on their attitude towards life and various social issues.

As grateful, value-driven young people who are ready to serve and share with others, all Sacred Heartists are committed to fulfill a minimum of five hours of community service in each academic year. They also need to include service summaries and reflections in their service portfolios.

Heartslink Community Service Project

Funded by Heartslink Charity Walk for SHCC 155th Anniversary Celebration, the Heartslink Community Service Project provides our students with the chance to serve primary school children and the elderly in Southern District. Through yearlong programmes, student volunteers reflect on their gifts and talents, develop a strong sense of commitment and gain different generic skills. High expectations of their service gives students a sense of accomplishment as they reach different levels of responsibility and build relationships with the people they serve.

S4 Service Project

All S4 students have a chance to organise a service programme under the guidance of their Homeroom Teachers, Homeroom Partners and RME teachers. The Service Project enriches their service experience and allow them to understand themselves more for the betterment of their personal growth. The Service Project demonstrates the initiatives of our students in response to the needs of different groups in society.

Cambodia Outreach Project

Following the footsteps of the Canossian Sisters who travelled from the other side of the continent to serve the needs of the young girls in Hong Kong 160 years ago, Sacred Heartists bring the spirit of charity in humility to the needy children and women in Cambodia. Our S5 students organise different learning activities for the children in Cambodia and offer health education to local women during their Extended Learning Week.
