In this year’s Easter Programme, we celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ and his love and sacrifice for mankind. Easter is the celebration of God’s unconditional love for us. It is the remembrance of the greatest love story of all time. Perfect love, undying love, could not be killed on a cross, could not be held in a grave. Indeed, the ecstasy of the Resurrection message is experienced when we peek spiritually into the grave and find that death has no hold on us. We need to remain hopeful even in desperate times. God transformed our darkest moment into the greatest act of love the world has ever known. Accepting God’s gift of Jesus Christ’s life on our behalf empowers us to be able to love others unconditionally. That kind of love transcends all of the other kinds.
We graced the occasion through watching short clips about the Easter story, rounds of Bible readings, hymns and prayers, and self-reflection of Faith. All students and staff were reminded to celebrate the good in life, and treasure every opportunity to be in the service of others. We acknowledged and recalled that Jesus had defeated the powers of sin and death for all. The sacrificial death of Jesus was not based on our qualifications. This is agape love.
There is nothing wrong in the enjoyment of bunny rabbits and Easter eggs but let us never forget that the real meaning of Easter is a great deal more.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. - John 3:16
