Annual Swimming Gala 2023-24

Our attitude to our performance in life challenges defines our altitude, according to Miss Sze Hang Yu, Rosanna, Hong Kong swimming record-holder, Asian Games and Asian Championships delegate and Olympic Games delegate.  In Miss Sze’s view, enjoying the process of tough training before a competition always gives her a sense of accomplishment. She further maintains that the more open we are to face our weaknesses, the more likely we will become a better version of ourselves.

This year’s swimming gala attracted both newcomers and old hands. There was a range of styles for keen swimmers to choose from: butterfly, breast stroke, free style and back stroke.  Among the events, the open grade relay and medley relay brought together the fittest athletes from the six houses to flex their muscles.

At the opening ceremony, Sr Veronica led the prayer and announced the official opening of the day’s programme.  Throughout the competitions, the six houses roared with all their might to cheer their own members, as well as impress the adjudicators for the Best Cheering Team Award. Miss Rosanna Sze, our guest of honour, Ms Juliana Sham, the Chairperson of Alumnae Association, Mr Benny Cheuk, the PTA Vice-Chairman, Mr David Hung and Miss Irene Yung took turns to present trophies and medals to the winners.

After consecutive fierce competitions, we are delighted to find the best athletes in water sports:  Leung Hiu Yan Angie, Chan Yin Yan and Lee Wing Sze were crowned Individual Champions of A, B and C Grades respectively. House of Teresa won the title of A Grade House Championship. House of Pankhurst took away the championship in B Grade and House of Keller was the C Grade House Champion. As if icing on the cake, House of Pankhurst, who took down top prize of B Grade, turned out to be the House Overall Champion of the day as well. House of Bronte won the Cheering Competition. A big congratulations to all the athletes and houses!
