On October 5, students from Sacred Heart Canossian College, alongside St. Mary’s Canossian College and St. Francis Canossian College participated in the UrbanPlan program, an educational initiative organized by the Urban Land Institute.
The program provided a hands-on experience where participants designed a neighbourhood, focusing on balancing community needs with financial viability. They also showcased their interdisciplinary knowledge and creativity in analysing urban problems and addressing real-world challenges.
Students were inspired by the fact that urban planning is essentially a collaborative effort involving multiple stakeholders as they learn from the innovative designs presented by their peers. The extensive group collaboration and interactions with facilitators honed their communication skills. The presentation of their design with an improvisation further reinforced their artistry and persuasive competence.
