On 28 March, actors from Dove Tales treated our S1 students to Shakespeare’s last play, The Tempest, meaning a horrendous storm. The play bespeaks themes of relatable human conditions, namely, greed, hate, punishment, entrapment and reconciliation.
S1 audience are no stranger to improvisation from regular drama lessons. They understand readily the disguise, humour and use of body language on stage. Minimal as the stage set seems, it does not undermine the rapport between the actors and the audience.
The activity nurtures appreciation of other culture, enhances improvisation skills and awareness of the audience in stage production. It nurtures students’ love of Shakespearean humour, plot and characterisation.
