Graduation Day 2024-2025

On 4 July 2025, the school celebrated the achievements of our S6 graduates during the 165th Anniversary Graduation Ceremony held in the College Hall. We were honoured to welcome Dr Iris Lau, our Guest of Honour; Ms Janice Yip, Chairlady of the Alumnae Association; Mr Benny Cheuk, Chairperson of the Parent-Teacher Association; Sr Veronica Fok, School Supervisor; Miss Renie Sinn, School Principal; Miss Irene Yung and Mr David Hung, Vice Principals; Miss Chan Yuk Lin, Assistant Principal; along with S6 homeroom teachers, teachers, and parents.

The ceremony commenced with a report from Miss Renie Sinn on the major initiatives of 2024-2025, highlighting a new school development cycle and leadership. Aligned with the school theme, ‘Joyful Motivated Learners, Earnest Thoughtful Citizens,’ the entire teaching community has dedicated significant time and effort to engaging students in a diverse range of local and international programmes and competitions. The connections between students and China, the world, Hong Kong, their parents, and the school have been greatly strengthened. Under the new leadership, the 2024-2025 academic year saw remarkable student participation in academic competitions and extracurricular activities.

On this auspicious occasion, we recognised student achievements in academic excellence, community service, choral festivals, dance, informatics, and video competitions, among others. Dr Iris Lau presented certificates to our graduates, while Miss Renie Sinn presented scholarships. Prizes for outstanding students were presented by Ms Janice Yip, Mr Benny Cheuk, Miss Irene Yung, Mr David Hung, and Miss Chan Yuk Lin.

Dr Iris Lau, an esteemed alumna of SHCC and a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, is a key contributor to the world’s first large-scale study on long COVID treatment. In her address, the eminent medical scientist reminded graduates of the importance of resilience, commitment, and readiness to embrace challenges.

Stephanie Wong, our Head Girl, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks on behalf of all graduates, expressing gratitude for the tremendous and thoughtful arrangements of the school that facilitated their learning, particularly during the pandemic and the transition to normalcy. This group of graduates has a unique experience of many of the first-ever school life experiences. They appreciated the undertakings of teachers in giving them a vibrant school life with amusing activities.

Sr Veronica and Miss Sinn presented bouquets of flowers to Ms Susanna Chow and Ms Wanda Yiu, our retiring teachers, in recognition of their dedication to the school. Long-service awards were also presented to Ms Magee Au, Ms Dora Au, Ms Wendy Lee, Ms So Wing See, Mr Kelvin Kwong and Mr Woo King Yan, followed by souvenirs for Ms Kwong Wai Fong, Ms Fung Tsai In and Ms Wai Sau Kuen for their untiring service to the school.

The school dance team captivated the audience with a dazzling ethnic performance featuring bells and drums. The ceremony concluded with the singing of the School Song.
