Public Statement regarding the Condemnation of Recent Online Malicious Smears
and Personal Attacks Against the School Principal and Teachers
The Incorporated Management Committee (the “IMC”) of the School has recently become aware of a series of malicious smears and personal attacks targeting the Principal and teachers on various online social media platforms. The IMC views this matter with the utmost gravity and immediately convened an emergency meeting to address the situation.
A preliminary investigation has established that the relevant online comments are replete with fabricated statements and malicious allegations. These baseless assertions have not only severely damaged the reputation of the School, as well as the personal reputations of our Principal and teachers, but have also caused unnecessary anxiety within the school community, potentially disrupting our students’ normal learning. The IMC strongly condemns these acts of malicious online defamation, internet vigilantism, and rumor-mongering perpetrated for personal agendas.
As a school with a Catholic religious background, we have consistently upheld the values of humility, respect, kindness, and love. The School remains fully committed to providing a safe, healthy, caring and nurturing environment for students. Consequently, the School places the highest emphasis on the professional ethics, moral conduct, and character of our teaching staff and management team.
The IMC firmly emphasises that any constructive feedback should be channeled through proper avenues directly to the School, rather than by disseminating falsehoods online. The relevant act of smearing and the dissemination of personal information may have violated the provisions under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance regarding “doxxing” offences, as well as provisions under the Crimes Ordinance. The IMC solemnly stresses that any individual who deliberately fabricates facts, incites hostility, or maliciously propagates false information must bear the corresponding civil liability for defamation and serious criminal legal consequences. The School maintains a zero-tolerance policy in this regard.
The IMC wishes to reiterate that all staff members are steadfastly at their posts at present, ensuring that all student learning, extracurricular activities, and daily school operations continue to run smoothly as normal.
The IMC earnestly appeals to all stakeholders and members of the public to remain calm and rational. The public is urged not to forward, comment on, or participate in the dissemination of these untruthful online statements. The IMC calls upon the society to join the School in safeguarding the peace, trust, and purity of the campus.
