On 1 September 2026, staff members and students gathered in the College Hall for the School Reopening Ceremony to mark the start of a new academic year. We began with a morning prayer led by representatives of the Catholic Society.
Following the prayer, our School Principal, Miss Renie Sinn presented the Scholarship for the Best Performance in HKDSE and the Mrs Theresina Chau Leung Memorial Scholarship for Best Performance in HKDSE to Fong Hoi Lam (6F, 2025–2026) in recognition of her remarkable academic achievements. Additionally, Miss Sinn presented the Mrs Theresina Chau Leung Memorial Scholarship for S6 Graduates to Tang Tsz Yau Magdalene (6F, 2025–2026) for her exceptional character, potential, and perseverance in overcoming challenges.
Miss Sinn then warmly welcomed students and staff to the new academic year, extending a special greeting to new S1 students and joining teachers as they entered the Sacred Heart family.
In her address, Miss Sinn reminded everyone of the enduring importance of hard work, perseverance, and community contribution. She invited students to reflect on the ongoing school theme, ‘Joyful Motivated Learners; Earnest Thoughtful Citizens’, noting that this is the final year of the current school development cycle and students should consider how well they embodied values such as perseverance, unity and courage, and how they could further fulfil them this year. Building on the school’s major concerns, Miss Sinn emphasised student ownership of learning. She encouraged students to take responsibility for their progress and reflect daily, stressing that growth matters more than results alone. Beyond academics, she called on students to ‘think big, dream big’ and act as leaders of tomorrow who embrace civic responsibility, reminding them that they are already the leaders of their own lives.
Following the Principal’s address, representatives from the Head Girl Core Group 2025–2026 introduced the design of the 2026–2027 Student Companion, themed ‘Dare to Dream, Strive to Shine.’ Incorporating illustrations of marine life alongside profiles of alumnae who have made notable contributions to society, the Student Companion inspires Sacred Heartists to embody the courage, resilience, compassion, global citizenship, and unity exemplified by outstanding Sacred Heartists.
To help students prepare for the year ahead, Miss Irene Yung outlined the latest updates regarding scholarships and awards. She encouraged students to set personal goals to unleash their potential and shine, highlighting that students should make use of self-nomination to recognise their own talents and achievements. Mr. Anthony Mo shared important reminders on academic integrity and how we maintain a fair and honest learning environment. Ms Laura Lai briefed students on leadership roles application; and Ms Fiona Chau detailed various student support measures available throughout the year.
The School Reopening Ceremony concluded with a heartfelt chorus of the School Song, bringing the unity and shared spirit of the Sacred Heart family into a new chapter of excellence.
