Our Principal, Miss Renie Sinn, warmly welcomed students and staff to a new academic year at the School Re-opening Ceremony on 1 September 2025. She extended a special greeting to our new S1 students and new teachers.
In her address, Miss Sinn began by reminding everyone of the enduring importance of hard work, perseverance, and contribution to the community. She encouraged students to consider themselves proud and active members of the Hong Kong community and the nation, describing the student body as ‘our pride, our hope, our future’.
Miss Sinn then invited all students to reflect on the continuing school theme, ‘Joyful Motivated Learners; Earnest Thoughtful Citizens’, asking them to think about how well they embodied it last year and how they could further achieve it this year. Building on the major concerns of the school, Miss Sinn strongly emphasised students’ ownership of their learning, encouraging them to take up responsibility for their progress and to reflect on their learning every day. Beyond academics, she called on students to be leaders who demonstrate vision and embrace civic responsibility. Miss Sinn also highlighted the importance of strengthening the bonds within our Sacred Heart community, fostering a spirit of togetherness and mutual support.
Following the Principal’s speech, representatives from the Head Girl Core Group 2024-2025, Stephanie Wong and Octavia Chan, introduced the design of the Student Companion 2025-2026. The publication this year is themed ‘Blossom in Adversity’, inspiring students to be like flower seeds that burst through the soil—to embrace challenges and view difficulties as opportunities for growth. The design highlights accomplished alumnae and brings to the fore six core values: Bravery, Positivity, Perseverance, Hope, Humility, and Love.
In preparation for the year ahead, Miss Irene Yung presented the latest information on our scholarships and awards. She encouraged all students to set goals for themselves to unleash their potential and let their talents shine. Ms Laura Lai gave reminders to students on their application for leadership posts and Ms Fiona Chau provided information on various student support measures. Mr Anthony Mo provided important reminders on upholding the highest standards of academic integrity, ensuring a fair and honest learning environment for all.
The School Re-opening Ceremony concluded with the singing of the School Song.
