The School Re-opening Mass for the new academic year was held on 15 September. The celebrant, Rev Christopher Chor, encouraged students to embrace the new academic year with hearts of prayer and gratitude. In his homily, he emphasised that God guides each student to our school to be cared for, and encouraged all to see the coming years as a critical time for growth, fostering supportive friendships and discerning right from wrong. While academic success is important, he reminded us that personal growth and learning from life’s challenges are equally vital, as even Jesus learned through his sufferings. Rev Chor urged students to be mindful of their roles beyond the classroom, to aspire to contribute to the world, and to become committed citizens with vision for the future.
During the Eucharistic Mass, students and teachers offered prayers for the Church, for peace among nations, and for wisdom for those in authority. Intercessions were also offered for teachers fulfilling their sacred mission in nurturing students, for students to embrace joyful learning and service, and for families to be strengthened in love and unity. The Student Companion and Community Service Record Book were then offered, symbolising our collective pledge to be joyful motivated learners and earnest thoughtful citizens.
The mass also featured the installation of the new Executive Committee for the Catholic Society, who pledged to carry out their duties with love and humility. Following this, under the leadership of our Principal, Miss Renie Sinn, the entire assembly of teachers and students affirmed their shared commitment to follow the footsteps of our Foundress, St. Magdalene of Canossa, and to strive towards the ideals of the school theme.
The mass concluded with a final blessing, sending forth teachers and students to carry the spirit of reflection and service into the new academic year.
