Organised by the Faculty of Construction and Environment (FCE) of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the ‘Build a Smart City Competition 2026’ invited secondary school students to explore the Smart City concept and develop innovative solutions for a smarter and more sustainable Hong Kong.

Congratulations to Huang Pingyu Penny (5A), Gao Yuehan Hanna (5F), and Zhang Zara (5F) for achieving the Second Runner-up in the competition. Their project, ‘EcoHarvest’, proposed a smart food waste recycling machine and mobile app to reduce campus food waste, promote recycling awareness, and support sustainable campus development.

Their project demonstrated strong creativity, environmental awareness, and practical problem-solving skills, turning everyday campus challenges into a smart and sustainable solution. Well done to our young innovators!
