Hui Wing Yan Tiffany (4F), Ng Man Hei Hailey (4E) and Yeung Tsz Yiu Yoyo (4E) took part in Alibaba Cloud Hong Kong 10th Anniversary Inter-School Generative AI Competition.
They were given the task to create an interactive novel with illustration pictures using Tongyi Qianwen and Tongyi Wanxiang, the two AI bots powered by Alibaba Cloud. Readers would decide on the development of the story from which they gain a sense of ownership of the novel.
Tiffany, Hailey and Yoyo created a storyline about a boy named Nova, whose father is a successful astronaut. Unfortunately, Nova's father got lost during an adventure in space. Determined to find his father, Nova decides to become an astronaut himself. Throughout his journey, Nova faces numerous obstacles, such as being hit by meteorites and escaping from a black hole. Despite these challenges, Nova perseveres and eventually discovers his father's whereabouts.
There is a special message attached to Nova’s journey. We will face many challenges in life, but we should strive to overcome them no matter how difficult they may be. Even if our efforts do not always pay off, we will discover new opportunities and learn valuable lessons along the way. Failure is a road that leads us to success.
In the case of the three students, their effort has certainly paid off. They became the First Runner-up in the Secondary School Group and attended the prize presentation ceremony cum Alibaba Cloud Summit Hong Kong 2024 on 27 November 2024. The Summit was addressed by Professor Sun Dong, JP, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry and the vice-president of Alibaba Group. Pioneers in the field delivered speeches on the latest development of AI. It was really an eye-opening experience for the three Sacred Heartists.
